A True Example of Compassion, Teamwork, and Service

Every day, Boss demonstrates what it means to be an exceptional healthcare teammate. He is always eager to help and has an incredible ability to anticipate the needs of our unit before anyone even has to ask.

There have been countless times when I was just about to call him to transport a patient, only to have him appear around the corner and ask, “Is the patient ready to go?” His initiative and awareness are remarkable. His strong work ethic and willingness to step in wherever he is needed help keep our unit running smoothly, even on the busiest and most challenging days. He is also incredibly dependable and rarely misses work, making him someone our team can always count on.

One of the things that stands out most about Boss is the positivity he brings to work every single day. Each morning, he greets everyone with a cheerful, “Good morning, everyone!” At the end of his shift, he makes a point to say goodbye and wish everyone a good rest of their shift. These simple gestures may seem small, but they make a meaningful difference. His kindness, warmth, and positive attitude are contagious and help create a welcoming environment for both staff and patients.

Boss also shows genuine compassion toward our patients. He is kind, patient, and comforting, helping patients feel more at ease during what can often be a stressful and unfamiliar hospital experience. His interactions remind us that sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can have the greatest impact.

He is just as encouraging to his coworkers as he is caring toward our patients. When I was orienting to the charge nurse role, Boss asked me if I was going to start doing charge. When I told him yes, he smiled and simply said, “You will be great at doing charge.” Those words of encouragement meant more to me than he probably realized. In that moment, he showed exactly the kind of teammate he is—someone who notices others, believes in them, and takes the time to lift them up.

Boss exemplifies the values of compassion, teamwork, service, and excellence in everything he does. He consistently goes above and beyond, often without being asked and without expecting recognition. His dedication, kindness, dependability, and positive spirit make our unit a better place every day.

For all of these reasons, I cannot think of anyone more deserving of the BEE Award. Boss is truly an invaluable part of our team, and we are incredibly grateful for everything he does for our patients, our coworkers, and our unit.
