Congratulations to Ava Dillon for winning the BEE Award!

I had the pleasure of working with Ava today while she was assigned to my patients, and I was immediately impressed by her exceptional work ethic, communication, and dedication to patient care.

Ava not only consistently completed her expected duties, but she went above and beyond by checking in with me numerous times to ask if there was anything she could do to assist. She was an excellent communicator and even left me a thoughtful sticky note at my computer with my patients’ blood sugar results—an excellent example of her attention to detail and commitment to keeping the care team informed.

I do not frequently work on this unit or in PCU, so when one of my patients developed a pulse of 160 and we needed a STAT EKG, I quickly began placing the patient on the monitor. While I was busy applying the stickers and leads, Ava returned with the EKG machine and performed the EKG for me without hesitation. We were able to quickly confirm the rhythm and initiate appropriate treatment.

I have been a nurse for 18 years, and I can confidently say that Ava’s work ethic, positive personality, initiative, and dedication truly stood out to me. She demonstrated what exceptional patient care and teamwork look like. Ava anticipated needs, communicated effectively, and stepped in wherever she could make a difference.

For these reasons, I am proud to nominate Ava for a BEE Award. She is an EXCEPTIONAL caregiver and a wonderful example of someone who goes above and beyond for both her patients and her colleagues.
