New UKG Pay Code for APP Extra Shift Pay

To improve the accuracy, visibility, and consistency of Advanced Practice Provider (APP) extra pay, we have established a new UKG pay code for APP shift payments outside of regular base compensation.

This enhancement supports more effective payroll processing, financial reporting, and budget management by separating APP extra shift pay from the general MISC SHIFT $ pay code.

What Is Changing?

Beginning with the pay period starting Sunday, Aug. 23, all eligible APP extra shift payments must be entered using the new UKG pay code: APP SHIFT PAY $. This new pay code replaces the use of the generic MISC SHIFT $ pay code for APP extra shift pay only.

Leader and Time Editor Actions

Effective Sunday, Aug. 23, leaders and time editors should:

  • Use APP SHIFT PAY $ for all eligible APP extra shift payments.
  • Discontinue using the MISC SHIFT $ pay code for new APP extra pay entries.
  • Continue using existing pay codes for all other employee groups and payment types.

Operational Impact

This change does not affect:

  • APP base compensation
  • Scheduled shift differentials
  • Existing premium pay codes
  • Payroll processes outside of APP extra shift payments

Why This Matters

Implementing a dedicated APP pay code will:

  • Improve reporting and transparency of APP extra pay
  • Increase consistency across payroll processing
  • Strengthen financial tracking and budgeting
  • Standardize documentation of APP supplemental compensation

Questions?

For questions regarding the appropriate use of this pay code or data entry in UKG, please submit a ticket through the Report an Issue form on Employee Center.
