Clinical Teams: Check Elsevier Clinical Skills for Your Annual Assignments

Effective May 1, annual assignments started appearing in clinical learners' Elsevier Clinical Skills accounts. They should be completed according to standard annual requirements. 

There was a delay in building and assigning annual validations this year due to system downtime during the transition to Elsevier Clinical Skills. This pause was intentional to allow for system stabilization.

Orientation Assignments

As a reminder, if you had any in-process orientation, post-orientation, or advanced Cornerstone checklists that were completed after Oct. 15, 2025: 

• Send the completed checklist to your director and to the Education and Organizational Development email box at educationandorganizationaldevelopment@carilionclinic.org.   

All clinical new-hire and transfer orientation assignments are loaded into Elsevier Clinical Skills during new hire week.   

Your Resources   

Since October, Elsevier Clinical Skills has been the space where all validation assignments—that need to be completed during orientation and annually—are made for clinical team members, but we know moving from Cornerstone to Elsevier Clinical Skills takes some adjustment.  There are many resources to help you complete the transition. 

For All Elsevier Clinical Learners 

If you have not taken or need a refresher as an Elsevier Learner, you may: 

• Enroll in Elsevier Clinical Skills for Learners - Workday   
• Refer to this job aid for the Learner with Elsevier assignments  

For the Validator or Preceptor (clinical)
