CGCH New Daisy Honoree, Kathy Waldron

Kathy Waldron was the most recent recipient of the Daisy Award for Nursing at CGCH. Recently, Kathy was asked to sit 1:1 with a child who was in the ED whose family member had left to go to work. She was playing games and entertaining him as best as she could with an occasional walk around the hospital. He was beginning to get bored playing cards and with glove balloons, so on Kathy’s lunch break she went to Walmart and purchased $50 worth of puzzles, books, coloring books,  and games along with a backpack to put all of his new things in so he would not lose them. She then continued to play games, work puzzles, and more to help him pass the time and not be concerned about what was happening in the ED. This is true compassion and commitment.
