Opening Doors to Recovery: Shout out to Mariana Wood and Jennifer Wolters-Argenio

The CIPR liaison team would like to recognize our incredible Speech Therapist Mariana Wood and Respiratory Therapist Jennifer Wolters-Argenio for their exceptional advocacy, expertise, and teamwork in supporting a patient’s journey toward recovery.

Through their clinical knowledge, persistence, and compassionate collaboration, they successfully advocated for a patient to wean from ventilator support — opening the door to inpatient rehabilitation (IPR) level of care. This was a pivotal step that made continued recovery possible in a setting focused on restoring independence. Because of their dedication, a previously highly independent patient now has the opportunity to regain her strength and function with the goal of returning home.

Their advocacy truly changed the trajectory of this patient’s recovery. Without their experience, clinical insight, and unwavering commitment, this opportunity would not have been possible.
