New Data Tools Now Available in Epic's SlicerDicer

Submitted by abshaver on

Our recent Epic upgrade included new SlicerDicer data models and expanded access to Epic SideKick, enabling teams to more easily explore data and identify improvement opportunities.

All Epic users can access SlicerDicer. It will be most useful to physicians, advanced practice providers, leaders, researchers, auditors, quality analysts and revenue cycle teams.

What’s new in SlicerDicer?

New data models

We added the following SlicerDicer data models to support clinical, operational, and financial decision-making:

  • Block Utilization
  • Pharmacy Workload Actions
  • Invasive Cardiology Cases
  • Patient Portal Messages
  • Eligibility Transactions
  • Billing Threads

These additions further strengthen our growing library of ambulatory, inpatient, and financial analytics models. Our library will continue to grow over time.

Epic SideKick

Epic SideKick is a generative AI assistant built into SlicerDicer that helps users work with data more efficiently. SideKick can:

  • Build and refine queries
  • Analyze datasets and highlight trends
  • Answer general medical knowledge questions
  • Suggest report and analysis ideas

SideKick improves over time through prompt engineering and individual user feedback.

To see SideKick in action, watch the "How To Use AI Powered Sidekick in SlicerDicer" video in Epic Help.

Where is SideKick available?

SideKick is currently available in select SlicerDicer data models. It is not yet available in every model, but Epic will continue releasing SideKick functionality regularly as model-specific development is completed.

You can launch SideKick by typing questions directly into the Epic Assistant Bar and selecting the SideKick option.
