CFMH's April Brown Helps Out Dad With Crying Baby
Submitted by Mark Kaldahl, H.S.D., CFMH Facility Support Director
When I walked by the Emergency Room Waiting Room there was a guy sitting there with two small children, one of which was a crying baby. A few minutes later when walking by the Waiting Room there was April Brown from PAS holding the baby who now had stopped crying. Later on I stopped by and spoke to April and commented on seeing her holding the baby assuming it was her family or someone she knew. She said she didn't know those folks at all, but couldn't just sit by and listen to the baby cry. So she stepped out of her office to see how she could help. To me this was going beyond her responsibility as a Patient Access Representative. She demonstrated Carilion's Value of "Compassion" as she took a few moments of her time to help with a crying child.
