Tuesday IPC Week Update: Educational Posters Are In and Creativity Is on the Rise!
Infection Prevention Week is in full swing, and today we’re spotlighting the Educational Poster Contest! Teams across the region are combining art, humor, and infection prevention education to spread awareness (not germs!) through their creative displays.
🩺 Over in Franklin, the Surgical Circus has gone center stage again with a detailed and eye-catching poster on Surgical Site Infections, reminding everyone that proper prep and sterile technique are no joke. The Home Care Germinators are teaching us all about the 5 Moments of Hand Hygiene, proving that clean hands truly save lives.
🐶 Franklin Carilion Clinic Family Medicine on South Main came through with not one but two fantastic entries — first, a heartwarming puppy-themed poster reminding everyone: don’t lick your fingers — stop the spread of germs! 🐾
Then, they turned up the spook factor with their new mascot, Jermie Jason — a nod to the classic horror character — warning everyone:
“Don’t have no ragrets. Wash ya’ hands, ya’ filthy animals!”
A perfect blend of humor, Halloween spirit, and hygiene awareness! 🎃
🦈 In Giles, the Imaging team’s mascot is making waves with their “Be a Shark: Take a Bite Out of Germs” message — a fintastic reminder that infection prevention takes a strong bite!
🧼 Meanwhile, Tazewell continues to bring creativity and charm:
- The Biohazard Bandits designed a colorful poster packed with infection prevention reminders and a cute raccoon bandit mascot, complete with a hobo-style stick and biohazard bag bandana!
- Radiology’s Rhinoviruses focused on preventing rhinovirus, keeping their poster both fun and informative.
- The Registration and Police team, aka the Rabies Revolters, went batty (in the best way) with their bat rabies prevention poster, featuring a stuffed bat buddy with full PPE flair!
The creativity, effort, and enthusiasm across all sites are absolutely infectious — in the best possible way!
