Monday IPC Week Update: Best Dressed PPE Challenge & Tazewell Joins the Fun!
Happy Monday, Infection Prevention Champions! Infection Prevention Week is officially underway, and today’s spotlight event is one of our favorites — the Best Dressed PPE Challenge! Teams across the region are suiting up with creativity, safety, and a whole lot of flair to show that infection prevention can be serious business with serious style!
👑 Over in Giles, the MOB team took PPE fashion to royal heights with a surgical glove crown and a big hospital gown bow that’s fit for the “Queen of Clean.” On Med/Surg and SCU, the Queen of Hygiene reigned supreme in her glove boa, reminding everyone that good hand hygiene never goes out of style!
🎪 Down in Franklin, the Surgical Circus dazzled with their “Oh No Crew” — a hilarious (and educational!) demonstration of how not to wear PPE. Talk about turning mistakes into masterpieces! Home Health is squashing germs in SUPER PPE and Family Medicine wants to remind us all that proper PPE is priceless!
💀 And over in New River, we have our first team entry — the well-known Transporters, who made quite an impression with their PPE display: a skeleton dressed for the beach, rocking a surgical mask bikini that’s definitely more “vacation mode” than “OR ready.”
🔥 Meanwhile, the competition just got even bigger — Tazewell has officially joined the race with an all-star lineup of teams bringing heat and humor to Infection Prevention Week!
Meet the Tazewell Teams:
- Administration: The Germ Busters — because they ain’t afraid of no germs!
- Radiology: The Rhinoviruses — scanning out infection risks one image at a time.
- Emergency Department: The Bacterial Bandits — quick, clever, and contamination-free.
- EVS: The Biohazard Bandits — masters of clean and defenders of disinfectant.
- Family Medicine: The Chiefs of Staph — leading with hygiene and heart.
- Registration & Police: The Rabies Revolters — protecting our front lines with fearless infection prevention.
- Dietary: The Germinators — serving up safety one sanitized surface at a time.
The PPE flair creativity is off the charts, and we can’t wait to see more entries roll in! Judging will be based on Spirit, Safety, and Creativity, so keep your submissions coming!
👀 And remember — keep your eyes peeled this week… the Germ Scavenger Hunt has begun! Every germ found means extra points toward your team’s total.
