Carilion Volunteers Keep Cyclists Safe at the USA Cycling National Championship!

Huge shoutout to our staff who volunteered this week with the USA Cycling Endurance MTB National Championship! Organized by Dr. CJ Waasdorp, there were over 40 medical volunteers including individuals from the ED, Wilderness Medicine, Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.  Our staff, including physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists and nurses, were positioned throughout the course at dangerous turns to make sure the more than 2,000 cyclists stayed safe during their race. They were also recognized in the below news coverage. Their selflessness and willingness to volunteer their time shows how our Carilion Clinic community gives back. Join us in thanking them for their work!
