5 West Celebrates Belated Best Friends Day

On June 10, 2025, 5 West celebrated a belated Best Friends Day (officially recognized on June 8). The event was a heartwarming tribute to camaraderie and teamwork among staff.

The celebration was inspired by the monthly recognition calendar emails sent by Cindy Akers, Senior Director of Med Pod 1, on behalf of the Nursing Recognition Council. With her support, the 5 West team organized a fun and meaningful day.

Unit Director Wendy Williams and Operations Manager James Ingrassia, along with Department Secretary Samantha Smith, led the planning efforts. The unit was decorated with colorful signs, handmade bracelets, and personalized locker magnets.

The bracelets read "5 West Crew," while the locker magnets featured phrases like "BFF," "bestie," and "true friends." Staff were encouraged to add personal messages to the magnets and place them on a colleague’s locker to show appreciation and connection.

This celebration reflects 5 West’s ongoing commitment to building a supportive, engaged, and dedicated team of outstanding employees.
