Helping our Patients Feel Heard!

Caring for our patients not only requires special clinical skills, but active listening, validating and reassuring is just as much a part of outstanding patient care as the hands on skills we use.  I'm proud of our Inpatient Mental Health team at CNRVMC for the caring, compassion, listening, and assuring that they provided to this patient and caregiver.  The following feedback was received from the caregiver:. 

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Faiq Hamirani and the entire Carilion Mental Health inpatient team at NRV. The care and support provided made a tremendous difference, and I will always be grateful.

Several team members stood out, including Angel and Lisa (social workers), Mike (nurse), and the Chaplain who checked in daily. Angel, in particular, was truly a godsend. Everyone was compassionate and professional, ensuring I was informed and involved throughout the process.

After multiple inpatient stays, it was here that I finally felt heard. The team’s dedication, de-escalation skills, and commitment to patient and family care meant the world to me. Thank you all for everything you did.
