Apply For a Nursing or Health Focus Scholarship

Healthcare professionals play a crucial role in shaping the future of our health system. To support their education and training, the Carilion Clinic Foundation is offering several scholarship opportunities, including ones for nursing and other healthcare-related degrees.

Nursing Scholarships

• Doris and Lynn Morris Scholarship: Up to $3,000 per semester for those facing financial difficulties (application due by Tuesday, April 15).
• Babe and Sydney Louis Hyatt Scholarship: Up to $2,500 per semester for aspiring RNs (application due by Tuesday, April 15).
• JoAnn Brinkman Nursing Scholarship: $250 for a deserving applicant (application due by Tuesday, April 15).
• Carrie Seay Scholarship: Two $1,000 scholarships for a BSN degree (application due by Tuesday, April 15).
• Carilion New River Valley Nursing Scholarship: Available to CNRV employees in accredited nursing programs (application due by Thursday, May 1).

Nursing Scholarship Requirements

• Must be a Carilion employee for at least six months, currently pursuing a nursing degree (BSN).
• Must maintain a B average and be in good standing at Carilion.
• Must work full-time as an RN at Carilion for two years after graduation.
• Preference for licensed techs, LPNs, or NAs.
• Cannot be receiving other Carilion scholarships.
• For the 2025 CNRV Nursing Scholarship, applicants need to work at CNRV to be considered.

Review the application forms for more eligibility information and requirements. Complete and submit the application form(s) and provide a copy of your current unofficial transcript and two recommendation forms to the Foundation by the deadline.

Note: Scholarships will be paid directly to the named institution and will be awarded based on the actual tuition balance.

Health Focus Scholarship

The Carilion Clinic Foundation is offering scholarships to students from the Carilion service area who are pursuing a degree in a healthcare. These scholarships are available for associate, bachelor and graduate degrees. Scholarship awards range from $250 to $5,000.

Health Focus Scholarship Requirements

• Must be pursuing a degree in health care.
• Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Must be enrolled in or accepted by an accredited college or university within the state of Virginia.
• May demonstrate a financial need.
• Applicants will be selected based on their GPA, recommendations, personal statements and financial need.

Review the 2025 Health Focus Scholarship Application for more eligibility information and requirements. Complete and submit the application form and provide a personal statement essay, two letters of recommendation and a copy of current unofficial transcript or (if starting first year of program) your acceptance letter to the Foundation by Tuesday, April 15.

All scholarship recipients will be notified in May.
