Patent Submission for Surgical Table Arm Mount by Carilion Clinic Innovation and Carilion Clinic Cardiovascular Institute
Congratulations to Ryan King and Rob Fippinger from the Carilion Clinic Innovation, along with Marilyn Edwards RN CTL, and Braiden Saylor CVT from Carilion Clinic Cardiovascular Institute! Together, this team invented an arm mount designed for use during fenestrated endovascular aortic repair (FEVAR) surgical procedures.
- Currently, the team creates a makeshift combination of pillows, tape, etc., to hold the patient’s arms in the correct position.
- The newly invented arm mount was designed to create a solution that offers stable positioning and enhanced protection of the patient’s brachial plexus.
The FEVAR arm mount provisional patent was filed last week and assigned U.S. Patent Application Number 63/713,312.
Congratulations on this exciting invention!
