Kidney Miracle

Jessica Shervey is a 4 South PACU CA. Her husband Joey has been on the kidney transplant list. On July 16th Jessica and Joey found out there may be a potential live kidney donor for Joey. On July 18th Jessica and Joey met the potential donor via FaceTime. On August 5th, I received an evening phone call from Jessica Shervey who stated the potential donor was a perfect match and surgery was going to be scheduled. This was an exciting and tearful evening for many in the 4 South PACU as this was a miracle. On September 24th Joey received his kidney than was flown to UVA from another state. The surgery was successful, and Joey is doing well. His story is unique, as the live kidney donor was a friend of a friend that wanted to donate their kidney, and they turned out to be a perfect match.  Joey wishes to be a helicopter pilot one day in hopes of delivering needed organs to other transplant recipients.
