Art Cart Brings Healing to Patients

Submitted by akbrelyn on

The Carilion Clinic Keeley Healing Arts program brings the power of creativity to the healing process. Through this initiative, we have artists in residence dedicated to supporting the emotional well-being of patients and families by integrating art into their care. Gabrielle King, our artist in residence at Carilion’s Center for Grief and Healing at Tanglewood, uses a mobile art cart filled with supplies to engage patients before their appointments. Together, they create simple art projects like seasonal crafts, worry stones, colorful origami and puzzles, all designed to ease anxiety and boost confidence. The feedback has been positive, with patients reporting reduced stress and increased self-assurance. Soon, employees will also be able to enjoy the calming benefits of the art cart during their breaks. Learn more about our Healing Arts offerings!
