September is Sepsis Awareness Month

I’d like to recognize everybody who has participated in Sepsis Awareness Month Rounding so far! 

Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming and life-threatening response to infection, which can lead to tissue damage, organ failure and death. It's the leading cause of death in U.S. hospitals, including Carilion.  Thank you for your dedication to patient safety and for spreading the word about the importance of sepsis recognition and treatment.
