Take the Employee Engagement and Culture of Safety Survey by Sept. 9!

Your experience at work is a priority and we want to hear about it! The Employee Engagement and Culture of Safety Survey is underway, so please share your thoughts by Sept. 9.

To make sharing your thoughts even easier, we've compiled frequently asked questions for your reference.

When does the survey open and close? 

The survey is open Monday, Aug. 19. You have until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9 to complete the survey.

How do I access the survey?

You can take the survey in many different ways. Use any of these methods to access the survey:

• Through the online link; enter your badge number to begin.
• Through the link you received in an email from CEO Nancy Howell Agee in your Carilion email on Monday, Aug. 19.
• Through a personalized email you will receive from Press Ganey, our outside survey business partner. Please note:
  • The email will be sent from Press Ganey on Carilion's behalf from this email address: noreply@hxplaform.pressganey.com
  • This survey is coming from a trusted partner and the email link is secure.
  • Press Ganey will not send you the personalized email or any reminders if you have already taken the survey.
  • The sooner you take the survey, the more chances you have to be entered in drawings to win Amazon or Target gift cards.

How long will it take me to complete the survey?

• This year’s survey will take about 10-15 minutes.

Can I save the survey and complete it at another time? 

• Yes, you do have the option to save the survey and return to it at a later time. The last day to complete the survey is Monday, Sept 9.

Is the survey confidential? 

• The survey is voluntary and confidential; managers will not be able to see your individual responses.

How can I be sure my manager won’t learn what I put on this survey?

• Your leader will never see your individual responses. They will only see the combined feedback of employees in their departments, as long as there are five or more responses. If you are on a small team and there are less than five responses, your leader will not receive the combined scores.  

Why is it important for me to take the survey?

• Your feedback helps us learn important information about our workplace and culture of safety. For example, last year many of you told us you like the work you do and find it meaningful, but there are opportunities to communicate more effectively between units and departments. Having important information like this helps our leaders make critical decisions about where to focus our work.

What is Culture of Safety?

• Safety culture is everything an organization is and does to pursue safety. The Culture of Safety section of the survey aims to gauge how you perceive safety (physically and psychologically) for yourself and for our patients, whether you are a clinical or non-clinical employee. 

Why do I need to know Press Ganey is administering the survey?

• We want to be sure you are informed and not alarmed to see an email in your inbox from an external email address, asking you to complete a survey. Also, you should know we work with an outside vendor to conduct the survey and gather the data in a way that you will not be identified.
  
  Finally, Press Ganey acquired our previous vendor (SMD), and we benefit from the change. Press Ganey is well known for developing and distributing patient satisfaction surveys. Working with them will help us access more data and benchmarks, giving us more information to pull from to respond to your feedback.

Are there prizes this year?

• Yes! Drawings will be held regularly through the survey period. Once you take the survey, your name will be included in drawings until the survey period ends or you win. The earlier you take the survey, the more chances you have to win a $25 gift card to locations such as Amazon and Target.
  
  Winners will be notified through email and their names posted on Inside Carilion.
