Join us to celebrate Shea Boyd, LPN, General Surgery, our 3rd Qtr. FY24 DAISY winner!

The DAISY award celebrates exceptional nurses for the care and kindness they provide to patients, families, and co-workers. Launched at the beginning of FY24, Carilion’s outpatient/ambulatory departments present the third quarter DAISY Award to Shea Boyd, LPN, General Surgery.

She was nominated by a Carilion colleague who shared the following story:

A patient arrived for her appointment from a nursing facility alone. No one from the facility accompanied her nor did she have any family members with her. The patient explained she was awakened just before she had to leave for her appointment and arrived still in her gown with a blanket. The patient also stated she did not get breakfast. Shea is always very kind and compassionate. She was concerned about the patient being hungry and missing her lunch too. Shea called the cafeteria at CNRV, and the staff brought some toast, cereal, and juice for the patient to eat before she left. Shea took excellent care of this patient as she does all patients every day.
