RQI: Look How Far We've Come!

A year ago, we were planning for the last of our inpatient facilities to launch Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) — a better way to learn CPR and save lives. Now, every inpatient and ambulatory facility uses RQI. January 1 marked our first quarter as a full RQI system, with 9,151 learners using the blended education to renew life support education certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). 

RQI includes two parts: a skills session with a real-time RQI simulation station, and an online e-learning portion that are completed in quarterly intervals. Before RQI, you had to complete extensive training every two years. This was a huge time commitment that took you away from patient care. RQI gives you the chance to learn in only 20 minutes each quarter, instead of devoting an entire day to class.

Completing life support education renewal in a fraction of time is easier to coordinate and allows more opportunities for practice, which is boosting the confidence of team members across the system!
