What can be better than expertise and willingness to share?

In the last 3 years the work around Sepsis in our Carilion hospitals has become the center of many Quality Projects. Sepsis being the leading cause of mortality at Carilion Clinic can be very complex to diagnose and clinicians are constantly finding ways to improve outcomes so they can deliver the best care to our patients. When talking about improvement activities around sepsis, the first name that anybody will mention is Amy Lucas. Amy is not just an expert about sepsis, but someone that we all go to for guidance around any regulations and ideas for improvement.

What make her so SPECIAL is that she will make time for those that need help, she will explain what needs to be explained, always with the same patient. She is also open to new ideas with the best attitude working with teams.

Amy is a perfect example of collaboration, curiosity and commitment and I feel blessed for having the opportunity to work with her.
