Congratulations to Kayla Demma on her DAISY Award

The DAISY Award recognizes the amazing nurses here at CRBH for going above and beyond in the care of our patients. Kayla shows great compassion and care in taking care of her patients.  Please take some moments to read her incredible nomination story.

“I was seen in the ED on 10/26 for a very personal issue. As an employee of CRBH I felt a little awkward being seen in our ED for such a personal issue, but I felt really bad and couldn’t get in with my regular doctor in a timely manner so I decided to go to the ED regardless of how uncomfortable the situation. Kayla came to the lobby to get me rather than making me go through triage. She took me directly to a room. I know she did that to make me feel more comfortable. She and Dr. Devine were the only two Carilion employees that seen me in the ED that day except for the person who did my ultrasound. They all made me feel so comfortable, but I am nominating Kayla for the Daisy award because she was especially caring, compassionate, and understanding of my situation. She went above and beyond and assured me that no one else would know about what was going on and she made sure that she and Dr. Devine were the only two who cared for me. I was awaiting discharge at change of shift, but Kayla came in to tell me goodbye and assured me once again that no one else would know what was going on and she even passed that on to the oncoming nurse who would be taking care of my discharge. Thank you so much Kayla! You are an amazing nurse and your kindness and compassion are exemplary.”
