Congratulations to Rebekah Mitchell, RN - Labor and Delivery on winning the DAISY Award for September 2023!

The DAISY Award was created to celebrate the compassion and kindness that nurses show to their patients and families every day.  Rebecca showed such compassion for a family going through so many conflicting emotions.  Please take a moment to read her story.

Rebecca was my nurse when I delivered my first baby back. I don’t remember if she knew this but my dad was also in the hospital at the same time. The first baby is an exciting time and it was mixed with a dozen other emotions. I still think about Rebecca to this day and how she has a peaceful presence and her calm and kind words and attitude towards me. While I was thinking about my dad and my family she kept me focused and in the moment, one that I will never forget. My dad passed a few days later and thank you to the nurses/staff on the other units for coordinating so that my dad could come up and meet his first grandchild. I know he appreciated that. Rebecca I want you to know that I appreciate you. Your kindness doesn’t go unnoticed. I’m a nurse so I understand that the job comes with some tough shifts but I hope you remember on those days that you have made a lasting impact on the patients you take care of and that you are such a blessing to your patients!
