Congratulations to Kasi Abell, PCT, on winning the BEE Award for September 2023!!

The Carilion BEE Award was created to help recognize the amazing job Patient Care Technicians do to take care of our patients and families. Their role as an ancillary staff member is key to the great care that our patients receive here at CRMH.

Kasi is beyond an amazing aid. One of the patients she cared for had been on the unit for over a week, on contact precautions and a chest tube. None of these things stopped Kasi from becoming his "angel". Kasi would hold his hand, sit and talk with him, offer comfort and support without anyone asking. She encouraged him to stay positive and helped him make a list of "bucket list items'. It's no wonder the patient called her his angel and a guiding light. When Kasi left, the patient thanked her for going above and beyond. I think all of us, especially the RNs!
