Congratulations to Rachel Carrick, RN, 9MICU at CRMH for winning the DAISY Award for August 2023!

The DAISY Foundation created the DAISY Award to celebrate the extraordinary efforts that our nurses give in the caring of our patients and families.  Rachel showed her compassion and special care for this family.  And on a side note, this was Rachel's first DAISY nomination and she won! Now how special is that!

Rachel was my moms night nurse two nights in a row; just because it was night shift, it didn’t mean Rachel was any less attentive. She saw the little things, she was quick to take action, she even made sure my sister and I were comfortable and taken care of; I think it was because she was personally concerned for our Mom and cared for her as if she was her own Mom. THAT is what this daughter needed.   This girl went above and beyond, her bedside manner was compassionate to our family situation and Mom’s individual needs.This stroke was the worst thing to happen to our Mom and family and Rachel took a huge burden off of us somehow. Rachel’s level of compassion, professionalism, personalized care, and joyfully-loving personality is an asset to this hospital unit and some others would benefit from observing her.  I was sad when she said she wouldn’t be on duty until the next weekend (understandably). Thank you so so much Rachel!
