Assistance with inpatient medications

Dear Madam or Sir,

I was recently admitted to CRMH for 5 broken ribs from a home fall.

Once settled into my room 983 on Saturday, August 5, my care nurse introduced herself and shared with me she would be providing my inpatient care while I was on her shift (7 p.m. - 7 a.m.).

Nurse Janet is a traveling nurse.  She loves her time in Roanoke and working within the CC system and team members.  She has also taken advantage of what the Roanoke area has to offer, and while here, in her spare time, she is tackling completing the Appalachian Trail.  Thus far, she has been very successful.

Janet immediately noticed my difficulty with swallowing large tablets and suggested she cut some of the larger tablets in half.  Her plan and suggestion worked.  Reducing the size of the tablet made it much easier to swallow and assured I was getting the appropriate meds.

I do not know Janet's full name.  All I know is Janet is a traveling nurse selected by CC to provide care to CC's patients.  She was my nurse on the eve of Saturday, August 5.  I applaud Janet for finding a solution to my med situation - and it WORKED! 

None of my other nursing care offered to assist with cutting the large tablets in half even after I requested it.  "We don't have a pill cutter."
