Patient compliment about our very own Dr. Scarlatescu
I received a patient mid-day yesterday and went in to introduce myself. After talking to him he asked, "Who is that doctor that came in this morning? I can't pronounce his name, but he really explained things in a way I could understand and seemed to really care and love his job?" I knew exactly who it was by the man's description and gave his name and how to pronounce it by breaking it down on the white board in the room. I ended with the usual "And you can call him Dr. S if you want. He doesn't mind, and we all know who you're talking about." This isn't the first time I've heard compliments from patients about our own Dr. Scarlatescu. I've tried to tell him how rare a doctor like him is from my experience as a nurse. I've seen this man hug patients and family members, comfort others, and spend time I know he really doesn't have explaining diagnoses, side effects, imaging, etc. to patients to make sure he/she understands. I will never forget the time I had just started working at CFMH and I had a concern for a patient. I let Dr. Scarlatescu know and before I knew it, he was up headed for the patient's room faster than my short legs could take me. His words and actions show how much he cares. I'm so glad he's at our hospital.
