She has stayed after her shift to give my husband the wound care he needed. She was gentle and thorough. We would exchange pet stories, silly things we've done and laughed. She made my husband feel comfortable. My husband has been through an awful lot. A it's nurses like Julie that not only make him laugh,but seems to lift his spirits. These little things I believe help a patient recover better and faster. She mentioned she hasn't been a nurse for long. I hope she will continue in this career. She is perfect for it."

"I am nominating this award to this nurse because I have had the pleasure of having this nurse be in charge of my care on multiple separate occasions. I was honestly shocked to find out how short of a time (3 months) she had only been working here at Roanoke Memorial Hospital! You would never have guessed that by the way that she always greeted me - and all of the staff, including her other patients each time she passed them or entered the room. I personally suffer with some at time - extreme PTDS/anxiety and Julie never made me feel like a burden at times I may have needed more time from her. She always went above and beyond to make sure I always had anything I may have needed. On one occasion she even shared a personal story - similar to what I was currently going through and trying to figure out although I was clearly panicking - this was so helpful on such an emotional level, which no nurse had ever been so helpful to this degree. She is so much appreciated for going above and beyond her job duties, and simply for being just ONE AMAZING HUMAN BEING! and for making me feel like a human being myself."
