Thank You to Our Nursing and Chaplaincy Teams for Code Lavender!

Submitted by kmbutterfield on

Since its launch last May, the Code Lavender team has responded to and delivered 132 Code Lavender bags to frontline caregivers. The program’s growth reflects the importance of prioritizing caring for our caregivers and teams.

Thank you to our Chaplaincy and Nursing teams including Andrew Tressler and Suzanne Bowser who have taken the lead to implement this program at Carilion!

One Code Lavender recipient noted, “My co-workers and I still talk about the Code Lavender bag to this day.  It truly lifted our spirits.  It was just nice to be able to take a moment and focus on something besides our patient population…These interventions truly help the nurses just to have a moment to focus on them and recoup for a few minutes.”

We're excited to share that the program has now expanded from seven units to the entire CMC campus. Plans are in the works with community hospitals to make this a system wide offering in the coming months.

Any CMC staff can now request Code Lavender for themselves or their team. To call a Code Lavender choose Alert – CMC – Lavender in PerfectServe. Code Lavenders can be called 24 hours a day.
