Poster presentation at the 2019 American Society of Addiction Medicine Conference in April

Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine 4th year medical student, Andrew Gaddis, led a research team to compare outcomes of buprenorphine and methadone treatment with women receiving care for their opioid use disorder that revealed greater engagement with prenatal care for those receiving buprenorphine medication-assisted treatment.  The pictured group traveled with the poster accepted for presentation at the 2019 American Society of Addiction Medicine Conference.  Researchers who worked with Andrew Gaddis included Drs. David Hartman, Kimberly Simcox, Jenn Wells and William S. Rea.  Andrew has been accepted into a residency training program at Johns Hopkins - congrats to Andrew!  This team has been inspired by his prolific research and looks forward to what lies ahead for this outstanding medical student!  Psychiatry and Ob-gyn Departmental collaboration continues through the joint expansion of office-based opioid treatment services.  Compassion characterizes the work of each of these health care professionals who are continually looking to improve access to care!
