Phyllis B. Whitehead PhD, APRN, ACHPN, PMGT-BC, FNAP, along with colleagues Kim Carter PhD, RN, NEA-BC (Carilion Clinic Office of Nursing Research & EBP), Jeannie S. Garber DNP, RN, NEA-BC (James Madison University), and Beth Epstein PhD, RN, HEC-C, FAAN (University of Virginia) published The Nurse Manager's Experience of Moral Distress in the June 2021 issue of the Journal of Nursing Administration. This paper reflects a qualitative descriptive study of 19 nurse managers from 5 healthcare institutions in Virginia. The study supports the ongoing conversation for how organizations can help nurse leaders to create healthy work environments in their organizations by supporting nurse managers.
