Nurses Receive Innovation in Nursing Research Award
Sunny Kook and Stephanie Defilippis received the Innovation in Nursing Research Award for their poster presentation at the VNA Innovations Fall Conference in Richmond on September 21-22, 2018. Their poster, entitled "Efficacy of Intermittent Heparin Flush Versus Normal Saline Flush in Adult Implanted Ports in Prevention of Catheter Occlusions" disseminated the findings from their 2017-2018 Nursing Research Fellowship sponsored by the Carilion Clinic Office of Nursing Research. Mentors for the study included Phyllis Whitehead PhD, APRN/CNS, ACHPN, RN-BC, Ava Porter DNP, RN, CNE, and Anne Cattigan MSN, RN, OCN. A portion of the funding for this project was through the Carilion Nursing Research Collaborative.
