NRV Police joins Guest Services to keep the cars rolling

Carilion Police Officer Ben Farmer is trained to handle anything, and this week, "anything" included parking dozens of cars for patients and guests at Carilion New River Medical Center. Due to staffing shortages in Guest Services, Carilion police were called in for assistance. 

"CNRV police have been great partners working closely with Guest Services team members Susan Thomas and Ed Gravely this week," Director Shanna Flowers said. "Ben jumped right in and worked with our parking team so that we could continue the valet service that our patients and guests have come to expect. We are so grateful for their assistance in keeping the parking operation rolling along smoothly."

"Wow, they have the police parking our cars!" Officer Farmer said, recalling what one driver said to him. Officer Farmer, who has worked 10 years at Carilion, said parking cars was a change of pace from his normal duties, which involve assisting all over the hospital campus.

"We appreciate how our Guest Services team members and CNRV police came together for our patients and guests," Shanna said. "Team work truly makes the dream work."
