NEW - Critical Care Simulation - RMH Main PACU
On August 9th, the 4 South PACU completed their first Critical Care Simulation class in the Satellite Simulation Center at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The Critical Care Simulation class is a four-hour hands-on, incorporates teamwork and includes four high acuity scenarios. I am confident that this class will help our PACU RNs be more prepared in higher acuity situations, improving patient care. I am extremely excited the Critical Care Simulation class is incorporated into the PACU orientation and available to seasoned PACU RNs who wish to have more hands-on practice.
Jessica Shrewsbury, BSN RN CTL of the 4 South PACU built the Critical Care Simulation class from the ground up with the assistance of Dr. Michael Saccocci - Vice-Chief, CMC Department of Anesthesia, Rachel Altizer BSN RN CCRN - Simulation Lab Education Facilitator, and Sarah Stover MSN RN - HR Clinical Educator. I am beyond proud of Jessica. She is a critical thinker and huge asset to our organization and OR Services.
I want to give a huge thank you to the teamwork and collaboration between Jessica, Rachel, Sarah, and Dr. Saccocci to create this class. I would also like to extend thanks to the Simulation Center and the HR Education Department for all their assistance and support in the development and implementation of this course.
Thank you to everyone and we cannot wait to see how far this course expands!
