Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the 10M PCU crew!

"'Twas the night before Christmas, in the hospital ward, Not a patient was stirring, not even a snore.

The IV bags were hung by the tree with great care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

The nurses were nestled all snug at their station, Dreaming of holidays and brief vacation.

And doctors in lab coats, with charts piled high, Had just settled down with a weary sigh.

When out in the hallway arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the tree I flew like a flash, Past wheelchairs and gurneys, a quick festive dash.

The lights on the tree gave a medical glow, With stethoscopes dangling, row after row.

When what to my wondering eyes did appear, But ornaments made from supplies so dear!

There were syringes with glitter, gloves tied in bows, Thermometers twinkling, and gauze in neat rows.

With a stack of bedpans, so shiny and bright, It looked like the tree had caught holiday light.

The scrub caps were hung like stockings with flair, And pill bottles sparkled like jewels everywhere.

The blood pressure cuffs wrapped snug round the pine, Creating a garland both festive and fine.

Then up from the nurses came laughter and cheer, “This is the best tree we’ve had all year!”

Though sterile and simple, the joy was so sweet, A hospital Christmas felt perfectly complete.

So if you should wander through halls late at night, And see a tree glowing with medical might,

Remember the spirit that shines through it all— Compassion and care are the best gifts of all."

PCTs on 10M PCU were very creative this year, decorating the unit Christmas tree in a true medical fashion! As you can see, multiple different items regularly found around a hospital were used to decorate - creating a different but fun visual for the season. Patients and visitors have made multiple comments of how much they like it and it brings them a laugh during a difficult time. A special shout out to Ria Bonafede and Kai Martin for the "ornaments" and Brianna Etter, PCT for wrapping the "presents" and decorating the small tree!
