Hospice Patient Garden Brings Joy

Submitted by sghuntington on

Who doesn't love a garden fresh tomato? A team of Roanoke Hospice volunteers, under the guidance of volunteer and Master Gardener, Will Childers, have been tending 3 community garden plots this summer to grow fresh, organic produce for our hospice families.  More volunteers deliver the produce weekly to families who want to experience that garden fresh taste and stir memories of gardens they tended in years gone by.  The volunteer team has harvested and delivered over 100 pounds of tomatoes alone, along with cucumbers, yellow squash, red peppers and peas.  Yummy!  Thank-you, Will and the Garden Volunteers for your healthy gift of fresh veggies for our hospice families.
