Great Catch - Gabrielle Castro RN, Melissa Wright RN, & Megan Miller RN CTL
On June 18th Gabrielle "Gabby" Castro RN, Melissa Wright RN, and Megan Miller RN CTL were presented with a Great Catch Award! Each of these PACU RNs play a vital role in ensuring each patient is recovered appropriately and moved to their next destination. I am extremely proud of each of you! Keep of the great work and paying great attending to details.
Great Catch Award background:
“Adequate pain management in the PACU is a vital part of a patient’s recovery after surgery. 4 South PACU nurses Gabrielle Castro and Melissa Wright noticed that a recent EPIC upgrade changed the Dilaudid administration frequency guideline range from 2-30 minutes to 10-30 minutes. This resulted in an escalation to pharmacy and to the anesthesia medical director. Because of this great catch, changes to all phases of care order sets were made to standardize the Dilaudid administration frequency range while still allowing for frequency range adjustments by providers as needed. We also want to recognize 4 South PACU CTL Megan Miller for taking the time to report this great catch and to acknowledge the great work and attention to detail from her PACU nurse co-workers. Congratulations on your great catch!”
