Dr Burton featured in video for Virginia ED Bridge to Treatment Replication Project

Dr. John Burton has led the way in creating Virginia's first ED Bridge to Treatment model program that initiates treatment when appropriate for individuals with an opioid use disorder.  The timely ED intervention triggers responses from peers, case managers, the outpatient office-based opioid treatment program's care coordinators, social workers and physicians/nurse practitioners to collaboratively expedite rapid access to treatment.  The success of this ED Bridge has led to interest in replicating what Dr. Burton has accomplished at Carilion - through collaborations with Drs. Hartman in Psychiatry, Kimberly Hunt in the Peer Recovery Center, and a whole team of care coordinators and social workers.  Here Dr. Burton is being videotaped as a part of an ED Bridge Training Toolkit to be made available as a resource throughout Virginia and beyond.
