Congratulations to Dr. Phyllis Whitehead

Phyllis recently received the 2018 Honorable Mention National Compassionate Caregiver of the Year (NCCY)® Award offered by the Schwartz Center Organization. Please join me in congratulating Phyllis for receiving this award as it is so fitting for what she does naturally and on a daily basis. 

"For those of you that know Phyllis, she a personable patient and family advocate. She has often been observed sitting at the bedside with her patients where she is sharing or just listening. Through peer review a colleague wrote that she seems to have the ability to “speak eye to eye” with no word exchange. She connects with her patients, conveying her concern and care in such a personal manner. She is someone that you would want with you or your family member if seriously ill. Dr. Whitehead lives and models compassionate caring every day. Her compassion even extends to her work family as well as her patients and their families. Recently she requested a day off so she could ride with a work colleague out of town for a cancer checkup because she did not want her to be alone. This is just one example of her selfless caring and giving to anyone that is fortunate enough to know her."
