Congratulations to Allie Curtis, RN - Pediatrics ICU, on winning the DAISY Award for September 2023!

The DAISY Award celebrates nurses who dedicate their careers making a difference in the health care of our patients big and small.  Allie showed such compassionate care of one of our smallest patients and her family. Please take a moment to read her special story.

Our great granddaughter was admitted because of getting into an illicit substance accidentally. She was alone, terrified, sick, and lonely. You can imagine at 22 months old how she felt. She was admitted to PICU with Allie as her nurse. Due to her loving, tender compassionate care, my great grand daughter clung to her like a life line. Allie comforted this terrified child while giving her the medical care she so badly needed. Not only did she care for her, Allie also cared for me (81 year old with custody of her grand daughter). She and her assistant made sure I got liquids, a place to rest, and also constantly asked if there was anything that  I or my great grand daughter needed. We were so fortunate to have her as our caregiver. We believe you are very lucky to have such a kind, caring, compassionate, and professional person on PICU to take care of the children who have to be there. Thank you!
