Compassionate Nursing on 8 Mountain ICU!

Amber deserves to be recognized for her kind, compassionate act of taking one of our ventilated ICU patient's outside. The patient has been on our unit for an extended amount of time due to many factors. Over the patient's extended stay, the nurses on our unit have seen the patient's spirit deteriorate quickly. Amber arranged to take the patient outside with another nurse and the respiratory therapist. Not only did Amber take the patient outside, but she did so in between a CT and endoscopy trip. Amber had a very busy day and could have chosen to spend her time differently however she instead chose to do this selfless, compassionate act for her patient when they needed it most. Amber not only exemplifies Carilion's values, but her act demonstrated what nursing is truly all about!
