Compassion creates safety!

Corbin Martin RN in the emergency room was recently confronted with a juvenile patient in crisis who was using strong profanity towards Corbin and Carilion Police officers. Corbin was tasked with the patient's care and had to endure extreme verbal abuse by the patient. Corbin was able to deflect all the slurs and eventually was able to build rapport with the patient and calm the patient down so that care could be provided. Corbin's actions have not gone unnoticed as I have witnessed him deal with some very difficult patients and he does an excellent job communicating with our patients. Corbin's actions today created a safer environment for all of us!
