Collaborating to Provide Symptom Relief for our Patients

Submitted by mcswann on

Earlier this month, infection preventionists, infectious disease pharmacists, and infectious diseases physicians came together to pack symptom relief packs for Carilion’s outpatient clinics. Designed for patients with upper respiratory symptoms who do not require antibiotics, these age-based packs contain things like tissues, lozenges, nasal saline, and chest rub. They are part of Carilion’s commitment to helping our patients feel better as quickly as possible this cold and flu season. Thanks to a grant from the Virginia Department of Health, these packs are available to Carilion outpatient practices looking for a way to improve patient visit satisfaction. Reach out to antimicrobial_stewardship@carilionclinic.org to learn more about these and other symptom relief resources and bring them to your clinic!

A special thanks to the team that came together to make these packs a reality, including Dr. Ellie Nowak, Dr. Lauren McDaniel, Dr. Nick Stornelli, Silvia Ulm, Halie Mahoney, Shelby Ruley, Kathleen Manchin, Bray Studtmann, and Lindsay Maus!
