Carilion Franklin Memorial Celebrates Ben Jones as the DAISY Award Winner 

I came in for a medical issue and was told that my kidneys were shutting down.  I did not expect that news and was so scared.  Ben was my nurse, and he did everything he could to help calm me down.  He joked and made me laugh. When I needed a hug, he gave it to me.  Ben was so special, and I can't even describe just how special he was.  He had a love for people that I wish he could teach others.  I overheard him interacting with other patient's and co-workers, and he was the same way towards them too.  He was so compassionate and not afraid to show it. He had a calm and professional demeanor while showing me that he cared at the same time.  I wish everyone was like Ben!
