Caring for the Community: Karen Mulkey

Karen Mulkey, an Infection Preventionist at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital, teamed up with Health and Wellness Coach Susan Jewell to coordinate a highly successful Wellness Expo in Tazewell. This event brought  together 18 stakeholders in the health and wellness realm within the community, such as the local health department, Clinch Valley Hospital, The VA clinic, Appalachian Sustainable Development, and various private entities. The primary objective of the wellness expo was to disseminate information about enhancing health through healthy dietary practices, physical exercise, injury prevention, and maintaining safety and infection prevention through effective hand hygiene.
