Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital Awards DAISY- Congratulations Hayley Andrews!

We are thrilled to celebrate DAISY Award recipient Hayley Andrews MSN,RN CIC Infection Preventionist at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital.

Hayley Andrews,  made quite the great catch to receive her DAISY for demonstration our Carilion Clinic values in her practice. 
We had a patient who tested positive for carbapenem-resistant Aeromonas hydrophilic.  As a surveillance infection preventionist, Hayley used her epidemiological skills to source the root cause of the problem.  It was contaminated well water, the source of the patient's illness! This information was given to the patient family and bedside nurses taking care of the patient and they were able to fix the well water so it is safe for the patient to return home.
We are proud of Hayley going the extra mile to help our patient and the family who depends on that well water. 

This is a wonderful demonstration of Carilion values, where multidisciplinary care occurred to demonstrate our mission and values. Congratulations, Hayley, on your DAISY. We are so fortunate to have you on our team.
