Carilion Dental hosts first annual Super Smile Savers event!
Carilion Clinic Dental, in collaboration with Carilion Childrens and Carilion Community Outreach, held its first ever Super Smile Savers event on Saturday, February 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers provided free dental evaluations, sealants, SDF and Fluoride varnish applications to children ages 6-16 at the event, along with plenty of educational information focusing on healthy oral care. Children were also treated to face painting and a visit with the Tooth Fairy.
We want to say a big thank you to our event planning committee, led by Dr. Karina Miller, Lisa Russell and Britnee Daniel; as well as Jim Miller, Dr. Lee Jones, Amy Kageals, Aaron Bush, Abby Ferguson, Lakin Barnes, and Karrie Moses. The committee worked tirelessly to ensure a successful event. And a huge thank you to our many wonderful staff volunteers from Carilion Dental, along with volunteer dental professionals from our community and students from Virginia Western Hygiene, Virginia Tech's pre-dental club, and local high schools. Together, we were able to treat a total of 43 children! We’ve received lots of positive feedback from our patients and volunteers, and we’re looking forward to making this an annual event! We also want to thank several corporate sponsors for their generous donation of food, supplies, and other items.
