Brook Brown, RN Extraordinary Nurse: CFMH celebrates their first DAISY Award Honoree!
Carilion Franklin Memorial celebrated our first DAISY Award Honoree this morning awarding Brook Brown, RN, Emergency Services, this distinguished award.
Per Brook's nomination...
"My Husband and I came into the ER dept early morning. After telling the Patient Access why we there we were greeted by a nurse named Brook. It was so BUSY and I thought dear God just get me through this. I must say Brook made it all look very easy. I noticed her even after she turned my husband's care over to another nurse (because he was being held in a small room off from the waiting area), she got my husband a more comfortable bed and got him moved to the back in the ER she was still very vigilant and ask me if I wanted coffee, soda, even offering me a warm blanket. I truly think Brook cares for all her patients. My husband and I was there from about 130am until 8am and I think I seen her sit down 1 time (to eat her lunch and she was not down very long). She was at a run the entire night/morning. She even stuck her head in the room before she left and checked on us. It's the little things that mean so much. The world needs more Brooks. :-)
Carilion is VERY LUCKY to have her on their TEAM. <3"
