Beach Rescue and a Life Saved!

Ivie Will is one of our Mohs Surgical nurses with Carilion Dermatology. Last month, while on vacation with her family, a fellow beach goer experienced an emergency when a drone he was using lost control and crashed into him, causing significant damage and severing arteries in both his upper and lower extremities. Ivie jumped into action, helped slow and stop the bleeding with makeshift tourniquets and direct pressure, delaying hemorrhagic shock. The young man reached back out to Ivie to express his gratitude and let her know that he was on the road to recovery. Ivie, this man is so lucky you were there at that exact moment and able to help - your quick and effective action undoubtedly saved his life! What a way to demonstrate great courage and compassion!
